Crazy Cottage was a super fun game show made for kids. It aired on ITV in the United Kingdom. The show ran for three years, from April 1996 to May 1998. It was famous for its silly and challenging games. The main idea was that almost everything had to be done backwards!
The show had two different presenters. Rick Adams hosted the first series in 1996. Then, Jez Edwards took over as host for the next two series, from 1997 to 1998. A funny puppet cuckoo named Vera was also part of the show. Vera's voice was done by Steve Nallon.
How the Show Worked
Crazy Cottage was all about doing things in reverse. It even started in a funny way! The presenter would say "goodbye" at the beginning of the show. Then, the games would kick off, often starting with "Round 5" and counting down.
Crazy Challenges
The show had some really tricky and funny games. One popular challenge involved a series of actions. Teams had to perform these actions in a very specific order. The goal was that when the show played the actions back in reverse, they would perfectly match what the teams were asked to do. It was like a puzzle in reverse!
Another cool game was set in a kitchen. This kitchen was actually built on a slope! But to viewers watching at home, it looked like a normal room. This made the actions of the contestants look extra silly and confusing.
Prizes and Fun
At the end of each episode, the team that won got a cool prize. The winning team was the one with the fewest points. Prizes could be something awesome, like a trip to a theme park such as Alton Towers.
The team that lost (the one with the most points) also got a prize. But their prize was always a "backwards invention." For example, they might win a black lightbulb! These funny prizes added to the show's backwards theme.
