What are the Lots and Houses Like in Crestwood?
The land lots in Crestwood are usually quite large. They are often about 75 feet (23 m) by 132 feet (40 m). This big space is a reason why many people want to buy homes here. By 1994, newer houses were often two-story homes made of brick or stucco. The older, original houses were usually one-story wooden homes. In 1994, homes in Crestwood cost between $120,000 and over $500,000. This shows how much the area was changing. One real estate agent said living in Crestwood felt "like living in The Woodlands without the long drive." The streets are very quiet and private.
What are the Lots and Houses Like in Glen Cove?
Glen Cove also has very large lots. It's one of the few neighborhoods with big lots that also has special rules to keep the area nice. Lots on streets like Glen Cove, Glenwood, and Terrace are bigger, ranging from 19,000 square feet (1,800 m2) to 40,000 square feet (3,700 m2). Lots on Blossom, Camellia, Feagan, Floyd, and Rose streets are a bit smaller.
In 2001, Glen Cove had 173 houses. Many of the original homes were built in the 1940s. These houses were smaller because building materials were scarce back then. Some homes on Glen Cove Street were built in the 1950s and 1960s.
By 2001, many of the older 1940s houses were being replaced. People were tearing them down to build much larger homes. The big lots made it easy to build these bigger houses. New homes on smaller lots usually have at least 3,200 square feet (300 m2) of space. Homes on larger lots often have over 5,000 square feet (460 m2) of space. Unlike some other old neighborhoods, Glen Cove mostly replaced single-family homes with new single-family homes. This kept the area less crowded. In 2008, it was noted that most of the new houses were very large, sometimes called "mega-mansions."
Homes in Glen Cove typically cost between $600,000 and $3,200,000. In 2012, the average price per square foot was $327.01.
