Cristina Iglesias, born in 1956, is a talented Spanish artist. She creates amazing sculptures and art installations. Cristina lives and works in Torrelodones, a town near Madrid, Spain.

She uses many different materials in her art. These include strong materials like steel and bronze. She also uses water, glass, bamboo, and even straw! On January 20, 2016, Cristina received a special award called the Tambor del Oro. This award is given in San Sebastian, her hometown.

In 2011, she made history. Cristina was the first Spanish woman asked to show her art at the Folkestone Triennial. This is a big art event in England. Her brother, Alberto Iglesias, is also famous. He is a film composer who has been nominated for an Academy Award.

Cristina's Early Life and School

Cristina Iglesias was born in 1956. Her hometown is San Sebastián in Northern Spain. In 1976, she started studying Chemical Sciences. She went to the Universidad del País Vasco.

However, in 1978, she decided to change her path. She left her science degree to focus on art. Cristina began practicing ceramics and drawing in Barcelona. In 1980, she moved to London, England. There, she studied Sculpture at the Chelsea College of Art. While studying, she met her husband, Juan Muñoz. He was also a sculptor. She also met other artists like Anish Kapoor.
