The Crockett Tavern Museum is a cool history museum located in Morristown, Tennessee. It celebrates the life of a famous American folk hero named David "Davy" Crockett. The museum first opened its doors in 1958. It was officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places in December 2013.

Discovering the Crockett Tavern Museum

The Crockett Tavern Museum helps visitors learn about David "Davy" Crockett. He was a well-known frontiersman, soldier, and politician. The museum started in 1955. This was when many people were very interested in Davy Crockett's stories.

The Main Building: A Log Cabin

The main building at the museum is a special log cabin. It was built in the 1950s. This cabin looks like the old tavern that Davy Crockett's father, John Crockett, owned. John Crockett opened his tavern way back in 1794. The museum is built very close to where that original tavern used to be.

Who Runs the Museum?

The museum is managed by a group called the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities. Specifically, the Hamblen County chapter of this group takes care of the Crockett Tavern Museum. They work hard to keep history alive for everyone to enjoy.
