Crooked Island is a beautiful island and a special district in The Bahamas. It's known for its clear waters and quiet charm. The main town on the island is called Colonel Hill.
In 2000, about 350 people lived on Crooked Island. By 2009, the population was estimated to be around 600. People here speak a unique language called Bahamian English. It's a cool mix of traditional English, African influences, and local island words.
Island History and Firsts
Crooked Island has some interesting history. It's believed that the very first Post Office in all of The Bahamas was located right here. This important office was in a place called Pitt’s Town.
