Cross Roads is a small, quiet place in Indiana, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that don't have their own local government, like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Salem Township in Delaware County.
History of Cross Roads
The very first store in Cross Roads opened its doors in 1832. This was a big step for the community. It helped people get the things they needed without traveling far.
The community got its name because two main roads crossed paths right where it was built. This made it a natural meeting point for travelers and local residents.
A post office started operating in Cross Roads in 1879. This was important for people to send and receive mail. It helped connect the community with the rest of the world. The post office served the area for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1901.
