Cuba is a small place in Owen County, Indiana, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's not an official town or city with its own local government.
Cuba is located in the northwestern part of Montgomery Township. You can find it where two roads meet: County Road 150 West (also known as Keeler Road) and County Road 600 North (also known as Hale Hill Road). It's about ten miles north of Spencer, which is the main town in Owen County. Cuba is about 722 feet (220 meters) above sea level.
History of Cuba
Cuba was started a long time ago, in 1851. In the same year, a post office was opened there. People could send and receive mail from this post office for many years. However, the post office eventually closed down in 1909.
Local Geography
There are a couple of old cemeteries near Cuba.
- Kaufman Cemetery is about two miles west of Cuba. It's located on Bandy Road, just off County Road 325 West (also called Rattlesnake Road).
- Cloyd Cemetery is about two miles southwest of Cuba. You can find it near where County Road 460 North (Clark Road) and County Road 325 West (Rattlesnake Road) meet.
