Trifolium cyathiferum is a type of clover known by the common names cup clover and bowl clover.

Where Does Cup Clover Grow?

This plant grows in western North America. You can find it from Alaska and the Yukon in Canada, all the way down through the Pacific Northwest to California, Utah, and Montana in the United States.

For example, it grows on Ring Mountain in California. Here, it often grows near another type of clover called tomcat clover.

Cup clover likes places that are wet in the spring. These include valleys, chaparral (a type of shrubland), and forest habitats. It usually grows at elevations below 2,500 meters (about 8,200 feet).

What Does Cup Clover Look Like?

The cup clover is a small plant that lives for only one year. It does not grow very tall.

Its flowers grow in a group that looks like a bowl. This is how it gets its name, "cup clover" or "bowl clover." The flowers are usually white or yellow, and they often have pink tips. You can see them bloom from May to August.
