William Glenn's Role in the Community
William Glenn became an important leader in the area. After the War of 1812, he served as a colonel in the local "cornstalk" militia. A militia is a group of citizens who can be called upon to act as soldiers. William also worked in the state legislature in 1817. This is where laws are made for the state. From 1821 to 1823, he was the sheriff of Daviess County. A sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer in a county.
