Current View, Arkansas and Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Current View is a small place that sits right on the border between two states: Arkansas and Missouri. It's not a big city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's called an "unincorporated community," which means it's a settlement without its own official town council or mayor.

What is Current View?

Current View is a unique community because it's split between two different states. Part of it is in Clay County, Arkansas, and the other part is in Ripley County, Missouri. This means people living there might have neighbors in a different state!

Where is Current View Located?

This community is found on the northeast side of the beautiful Current River. If you want to visit, Arkansas Highway 211 connects to the southern part of Current View. On the northern side, Missouri Route E helps people get around. The town of Doniphan, Missouri is about eight miles to the north-northwest. A smaller place called Success, Arkansas is about five miles south.

How Did Current View Get Its Name?

Current View used to be known by a slightly different name: "Currentview." A long time ago, in 1895, a post office opened there with that name. It helped people send and receive mail until it closed in 1913. The community was named "Current View" because of its great location right next to the Current River. It truly offers a "current view" of the river!
