Curtis Vernon Wilkerson, born on April 26, 1961, is an American former professional baseball player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for several teams. Curtis was known as a utility player. This means he could play many different positions on the field. He played from 1983 to 1993.

Starting in the Big Leagues
Curtis Wilkerson was chosen by the Texas Rangers in the 1980 baseball draft. This was a big step for him. He first played in Major League Baseball in 1983. This was a short call-up at the end of the season.
His first full season was in 1984. He played so well that the Rangers named him their Rookie of the Year. This award goes to the best new player on the team.
Playing for Different Teams
Wilkerson played for the Texas Rangers until 1988. After that, he was part of a big trade. In December 1988, he moved to the Chicago Cubs. Several other players were part of this trade too.
He played two seasons with the Chicago Cubs. Then, he went on to play for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1991. His last team was the Kansas City Royals, where he played from 1992 to 1993.
After Playing Baseball
After his time as a player ended, Curtis Wilkerson stayed in baseball. He became a coach. He worked with teams in the Royals and Pirates organizations.
