Cylin Busby is a talented author and screenwriter. She is well-known for her best-selling memoir, The Year We Disappeared, which she wrote with her father, John Busby. This book tells a true story.

Early Life and Family Story
Cylin Busby was born in Falmouth, Massachusetts, a town on Cape Cod. She is the youngest of three children, with two older brothers named Eric and Shawn.
In 1979, when Cylin was young, her father, John Busby, who was a police officer, was seriously injured. Because of this event, her family had to move and live in a hidden location for five years. Cylin and her father later wrote a book together about this challenging time.
The Best-Selling Memoir
Their memoir, The Year We Disappeared, became a huge success. It reached #3 on the nonfiction best-seller lists for The Wall Street Journal and Publishers Weekly. It also became the #1 best-seller on Amazon's nonfiction list.
In 2009, the book was featured on the CBS television show 48 Hours. The episode was called Live to Tell: The Year We Disappeared. In 2014, the book was even considered for a movie adaptation.
Education and Career Journey
Cylin Busby studied at Hampshire College and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. She started her career in publishing at Random House. Later, she worked as an editor for children's books at HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster.
In 2000, Cylin moved to Los Angeles. There, she became the Senior Editor of Teen Magazine. She has written more than 20 books for young readers. Her books have been published in 15 different countries around the world.
Life in Los Angeles
Cylin Busby lives in Los Angeles with her family. Her most recent novel is a young adult thriller called The Stranger Game. HarperCollins also published her picture book, The White House Cat, in January 2022.
In 2022, Cylin had an exciting and unexpected experience. P-22, a famous mountain lion from Griffith Park in Los Angeles, appeared right on her front porch!
