Calvin Cylk Cozart (born February 1, 1957) is an American actor, director, writer, and producer. He has appeared in many films and television shows over the years.

Early Life and Sports

Cylk Cozart grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. His father is African American, and his mother is of Cherokee heritage.

In high school, Cylk was a very talented football and basketball player. He attended Montreat-Anderson College for his first year. Then, he transferred to King College in Bristol, Tennessee. He went there on a basketball scholarship.

Becoming an Actor

After college, Cylk Cozart almost became a professional basketball player. However, he hurt his foot while playing in a summer league in Los Angeles, California. You can see his basketball skills in the movie White Men Can't Jump. He starred in that film with Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson.

Before he started acting, Cylk Cozart was a very successful model. He worked in Miami, Florida.

Some of his most well-known acting roles include Detective Jimmy Mulvey in 16 Blocks. He also appeared in Eagle Eye and the family movie Adrift.

Helping Others

Cylk Cozart helped create and produce "Spirit of Life." This project was for the 2000 Summer Paralympic Games in Sydney, Australia. "Spirit of Life" won several awards, like the Videographer Award and the NY Film Festival Bronze Award.

Cozart is also the Director of Entertainment/Education for his foundation, Keeping Dreams Alive. This foundation helps mentor children and teenagers. It supports them from junior high school all the way through college. The foundation focuses on all sports. It helps kids who might not otherwise get a chance to find scholarships.
