Admiral Sir Cyril Eustace Douglas-Pennant (born April 7, 1894 – died April 3, 1961) was a brave officer in the Royal Navy, the United Kingdom's navy. He served his country in both World War I and World War II. He rose through the ranks to become a very important leader, even commanding a major naval base.
Cyril Douglas-Pennant joined the Royal Navy in 1907 when he was just 13 years old. He served as a naval officer during World War I. This was a very important time for navies around the world.
World War II Service
During World War II, he was the Captain of a large warship called HMS Despatch. He also led the naval forces that helped land soldiers on Gold Beach. This was a key part of the Normandy landings in 1944. The Normandy landings were a huge operation. They helped free Europe from enemy control.
After the Wars
After World War II, Cyril Douglas-Pennant continued his important work. He became the leader of the Joint Service Defence College. This college trains officers from different parts of the military. Later, he was a senior officer in the Mediterranean Fleet. In 1950, he worked as a British naval representative in Washington, D.C. His final major role was as Commander-in-Chief, The Nore in 1952. This meant he was in charge of a large naval area. He retired from the navy in 1953.

In 1917, Cyril Douglas-Pennant married Phyllis Constance Leigh. Later, in 1937, he married Sheila Brotherhood.
