DJ Shub, whose real name is Dan General, is a talented Mohawk DJ and music producer. He is a member of the Six Nations of the Grand River. DJ Shub has won many awards for his music. He was also a member of the popular group A Tribe Called Red.

The Music Journey of DJ Shub
DJ Shub started his music journey in his parents' basement. He practiced his DJ skills there for many hours. His hard work paid off when he won Canadian DJ competitions. He became the national champion in both 2007 and 2008.
In 2012, DJ Shub represented Canada in a big DJ contest. This was the Redbull Thre3Style DJ competition in Chicago. He showed off his amazing skills on a world stage.

Time with A Tribe Called Red
DJ Shub was an important member of the group A Tribe Called Red. He left the group in 2014. While with the group, DJ Shub helped create several albums. One of these was Nation II Nation. This album won many awards, including an Aboriginal People's Choice Music Award.
Solo Music and PowWowStep
On December 2, 2016, DJ Shub released his own music collection. It was an EP (Extended Play) called PowWowStep. This EP featured six exciting songs. It included sounds from the Northern Cree Singers. It also had smoke dance singer Frazer Sundown. A northern drum group called Black Lodge Singers also contributed.
PowWowStep won an Indigenous Music Award in May 2017. It was named Best Instrumental Album. In June 2017, a group called COCA named him DJ of the Year.
The Song "Indomitable"
DJ Shub's music video for his song "Indomitable" was filmed at a special event. It was shot at the Grand River Champion of Champions Pow Wow. This Pow Wow takes place in Haudenosaunee territory. The video features a fancy dancer and music producer named Classic Roots.
The song "Indomitable" includes powerful drums and voices. These come from the Northern Cree Singers. The video won the Best Music Video award at the 2017 Native American Music Awards. It was also nominated for Best EDM/Dance Video at the 2017 Much Music Video Awards. In 2018, "Indomitable" became the opening theme song for a TV show. This show was Who Is America? by Sacha Baron Cohen.
Film Music Success
In 2019, DJ Shub won a major award. He received the Canadian Screen Award for Best Original Song. This was for "The Trials," a song from the film The Grizzlies. He wrote this song with Thomas Lambe and Adam "Hyper-T" Tanuyak.
