Shelley Marshaun Massenburg-Smith (born August 3, 1988), known as DRAM (which stands for "does real-... music"), is an American musician, singer, rapper, and record producer. He grew up in Hampton, Virginia. He is most famous for his 2016 song, "Broccoli" (featuring Lil Yachty), which became a huge hit, reaching number five on the US Billboard Hot 100 music chart. This song came out before his first album, Big Baby DRAM, which was released in October 2016.

Early Life and Music Start
Shelley Massenburg-Smith was born in Landstuhl, West Germany. Before he was even one year old, his family moved to the United States, and he grew up in Hampton, Virginia. His mother was in the military. When he was a teenager, Shelley really liked the singer Bilal. He even found Bilal's unreleased second album, Love for Sale, when it became available online in 2006.
Music Career Highlights
In March 2015, DRAM released his first music collection, an EP called #1Epic. It included the song "Cha Cha," which became popular on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts. Later that year, in October 2015, he released his first mixtape, Gahdamn!.
The Success of "Broccoli"
In April 2016, DRAM released his biggest hit, "Broccoli", which featured rapper Lil Yachty. This song became a huge success all over the world. It reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it his first song to reach the top five in the country.
In October 2016, DRAM performed "Blessings (Reprise)" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with other famous artists like Chance the Rapper and Ty Dolla Sign. His first studio album, Big Baby DRAM, came out on October 21, 2016. Many people gave the album great reviews.
DRAM also worked with the British virtual band Gorillaz. He was featured on their song "Andromeda" from their album Humanz. He also sang on another song from the same album called "We Got the Power."
Other Projects
Besides making music, DRAM has also used his voice for acting. He voiced a character named Wallace in the animated TV show Lazor Wulf, which aired from 2019 to 2021.
