Gorillaz is a really cool band from Great Britain. What makes them special is that all the band members are animated characters!
Two creative people, Damon Albarn (from the band Blur) and Jamie Hewlett (who draws comic books like Tank Girl), came up with the idea for Gorillaz. Even though the band members are made-up, they have released many popular albums and music videos. The four animated members of Gorillaz are named 2-D, Noodle, Russell Hobbs, and Murdoc Niccals.
The band's music style is a mix of different sounds. It often combines alternative rock, alternative hip hop, and electronic music. You might also hear elements of experimental sounds, trip hop, dub, and psychedelic rock in their songs.
How Gorillaz Performs Live
Since the band members are animated, they can't perform on stage like regular musicians. At Gorillaz concerts, the real musicians play their instruments behind large screens. These screens show amazing computer-generated images of the animated band members performing. It's like watching a live cartoon concert!
Even with the animated performances, the real musicians who make up Gorillaz have toured the world. They have played at big events like the Coachella festival. In 2010, the live Gorillaz band even performed at the Glastonbury Festival. The crowd loved their show!
