Da'Mon Merkerson grew up in Passaic, New Jersey. He went to St. Mary High School in Rutherford. There, he was a very active student. He played three different sports!
He played football, basketball, and ran track. In both football and track, he was named All-County. This means he was one of the best athletes in his area. He was especially good at the 400 Meter Dash in track.
In his last year of high school, Da'Mon switched back to playing cornerback in football. He had found his perfect position.
College Football Career
Da'Mon Merkerson played college football for Syracuse University. He was a strong player on their team. He was tied for 8th in the Big East conference for passes defended. This shows how good he was at stopping the other team's passes.
Da'Mon helped his team win an important game. They beat Kansas State in the first-ever New Era Pinstripe Bowl. This was a big win for Syracuse.
