Early Life and High School Sports
Da'Mon Merkerson grew up in Passaic, New Jersey. He went to St. Mary High School in Rutherford. He was a talented athlete and played three different sports there.
He played football, basketball, and ran track. In both football and track, he was named "All-County." This means he was one of the best players in his county. He was especially good at the 400-meter dash in track.
During his senior year, he switched from playing wide receiver to cornerback in football. He quickly became very good at this new position. He even tied for 8th place in the Big East conference for passes defended. This means he was good at stopping the other team from catching the ball. Da'Mon also helped his Syracuse team win against Kansas State in the first-ever New Era Pinstripe Bowl game.

In July 2011, Da'Mon Merkerson signed with the Arizona Cardinals. This was a big step for him, joining a team in the National Football League (NFL). However, he was released from the team just three days later.
Playing for the Arizona Rattlers
After his short time with the Cardinals, Da'Mon Merkerson joined the Arizona Rattlers. This team plays in the Arena Football League (AFL). He played for the Rattlers from 2012 to 2014. During his time with the team, he helped them win two ArenaBowl Championships in a row. These championships were XXV and XXVI.
