Daggett is a small, quiet community located in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is also sometimes called Daggett's Mill or Daggetts Mill. Daggett is an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that are part of a larger township, called Jackson Township, rather than having its own separate local government.
A Look Back in Time
Daggett was started a long time ago, in the year 1827. It was named after an early settler, Seth Daggett. A "pioneer settler" is someone who was among the first people to move to and build a community in a new area. You can even see a special stone marker, called a Keystone Marker, that tells about its history. This marker is set into a cement wall in the community.
A Hero from Daggett
A very brave person named Philip Petty once lived in Daggett. He was born in 1840 and passed away in 1917. Philip Petty received the Medal of Honor. This is the highest award a person can get for bravery while serving in the United States military. It's given for incredible acts of courage.
