Dagmar Havlová, born Dagmar Veškrnová on March 22, 1953, is a famous Czech actress. She also served as the First Lady of the Czech Republic. This important role means she was the wife of the country's president.
She has acted in more than 50 movies and appeared on television hundreds of times. Dagmar Havlová became First Lady when she married Václav Havel, who was the President of the Czech Republic, in 1997.
Early Life and Education
Dagmar Havlová was born in Brno, a city in what was then Czechoslovakia. Her mother was Markéta Veškrnová, and her father was Karel Veškrna, a harmonist.
She studied at the Brno Conservatory and finished her studies there in 1971. Later, in 1975, she earned a special degree from the Janáček Academy of Musical Arts. This degree is similar to a Master of Fine Arts. In 1976, she married her first husband, Radvít Novák. They had a daughter named Nina.
Her Acting Career
Dagmar Havlová started her acting career in films in 1974. Her first movie was Girls from the Crockery Shop
, directed by Juraj Herz.By 1996, she had acted in over 50 films. She also made nearly 200 appearances on television shows. In 2011, she acted in a movie called Leaving. This film was directed by her husband, Václav Havel, and was based on a play he wrote. In 2014, Dagmar Havlová won the Best Actress award at the TýTý
