Dairyland is a small, quiet place in Madera County, California. It's what we call an "unincorporated community." This means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger Madera County. Dairyland is located about 7.5 miles (12 kilometers) south of Chowchilla. It sits at an elevation of 184 feet (56 meters) above sea level.
Dairyland was once an important spot for trains. It was at the end of the Chowchilla Pacific Railroad. It was also a stop on a branch line of the Southern Pacific Railroad. This made it a key location for moving goods and people by train.
