Dakota Davidson was born on 31 December 1998. She is an amazing Australian rules football player. Dakota plays for the Brisbane Lions in the AFL Women's (AFLW) competition. She is known for being a strong forward and ruck player.

Dakota's Early Life and Football Start

Dakota Davidson grew up in Ipswich, Queensland. Her family has Indigenous Australian heritage, from the Gunditjmara people. She spent a lot of her childhood playing sports. The fields near Limestone Park in central Ipswich were her playground. Dakota went to Ipswich Girls' Grammar School.

She started playing Australian rules football when she was 18. Her dad, who knew the sport well, encouraged her. Dakota's first team was the University of Queensland. They played in the AFL Queensland Women's League.

After three seasons, Dakota showed great talent. She kicked 11 goals in 11 games. The Brisbane Lions noticed her skills as a forward and ruck. She then played in two games for the AFL Queensland QW Winter Series. This helped her get ready for the national draft.

In the 2019 AFL Women's draft, the Brisbane Lions picked Dakota. She was the 60th player chosen. This was a big step towards her dream of playing professional football.

Dakota's AFLW Career Highlights

Dakota Davidson made her first AFLW appearance in 2020. It was in the Lions' first game of the season. They played against Adelaide at Hickey Park on 8 February 2020.

In the 2021 AFL Women's season, Dakota had a fantastic game. She kicked 4 goals against Gold Coast. This helped her team win by 63 points. She was also a star in the preliminary final against Collingwood. Her three goals helped the Lions reach the 2021 AFL Women's Grand Final.

Dakota signed a new contract with the Brisbane Lions in June 2021. She committed to playing for them for two more years. She has been a key player for the Lions, helping them win two AFLW premierships. These big wins happened in 2021 and 2023. In 2023, she was also named in the AFL Women's All-Australian team. This means she was one of the best players in the league! Dakota has also been the Brisbane Lions' top goalkicker twice, in 2021 and 2023.
