A Look Back in Time
How the Church Started
This church first opened its doors in 1930. It was called Parkdale Congregational Church then. The church was part of a bigger plan. In the 1920s and 1930s, a group called the Nottinghamshire Congregational Churches Extension Committee wanted to build three new churches. These churches were meant for the new neighborhoods growing around Nottingham.
Parkdale Congregational Church was one of these three churches. The other two were built in areas called Sherwood and Lenton Abbey. This church was specifically built to serve the people living in Bakersfield, Nottingham.
Becoming Dales United Reformed Church
In the 1970s, many Congregational churches decided to join together. They formed a new group called the United Reformed Church. Parkdale Congregational Church also became part of this new church family.
Later, in 1986, something else happened. Parkdale Congregational Church joined with another church. This other church was called Albion Congregational Church. When they joined, they decided to change their name. That is how they became known as Dales United Reformed Church.
