Dallas Alonzo Comegys, born on August 17, 1964, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played for many teams during his career, both in the NBA and in other countries.

College Basketball Days

Dallas Comegys played college basketball for the DePaul Blue Demons. He was part of their team in NCAA Division I from 1983 to 1987. This is the highest level of college basketball in the U.S.

College Achievements

During his time in college, Dallas was recognized as a top player.

  • He was named a Second-team All-American by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) in 1987.
  • He also earned Third-team All-American honors from the Associated Press (AP) and United Press International (UPI) in the same year.
  • Even before college, in 1983, he was a Second-team Parade All-American while in high school.

Professional Basketball Career

Dallas Comegys had a long professional basketball career. He played in the NBA and then spent many years playing for teams around the world.

Starting in the NBA

In 1987, Dallas was chosen by the Atlanta Hawks in the 1987 NBA draft. This is a special event where NBA teams pick new players from colleges. He was the 21st player picked overall.

Soon after, he was traded to the New Jersey Nets. He played 75 games for the Nets during the 1987–88 season. He averaged about 5.6 points per game and also got 218 rebounds and 70 blocks.

In August 1988, Comegys was traded again, this time to the San Antonio Spurs. He played 67 games for the Spurs in the 1988–89 season. He averaged 6.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game with them.

Playing Overseas

After his time in the NBA, Dallas Comegys moved to Europe to continue his basketball career. He played a lot of his career in Italy.

Italian Teams

In Italy, he mostly played in the second division, called Serie A2. He also had some time in the top league, Serie A.

  • He also played for Fortitudo Bologna and Comerson Siena.
  • In 1995, while playing for Siena, he was the top rebounder in the Serie A league.
