Damiere Byrd (born January 27, 1993) is an American professional football player. He plays as a wide receiver. This means he catches passes from the quarterback. He is currently a free agent. College Career
Byrd played wide receiver for the South Carolina Gamecocks football team. He started playing as a freshman in 2011. During his college career, he caught 68 passes for 1,265 yards. He also scored 10 touchdowns.
Byrd was known as the fastest player on his team at South Carolina. He also competed for the South Carolina track team. This helped him develop his speed and agility.
Professional Football Journey
Before joining the NFL, Byrd showed off his amazing speed. He ran the 40-yard dash very quickly. He also completed other drills faster than many other players. This was because of his background in track and field.
Carolina Panthers (2015–2018)
Byrd first signed with the Carolina Panthers in 2015. He joined them as an undrafted free agent. This means he was not chosen in the main NFL draft. In 2016, Byrd made the main roster. He was promoted to the active team later that year. In 2017, he broke his left arm during a game. But he came back later in the season. In 2019, Byrd signed with the Arizona Cardinals. He played in 11 games for them. He had his best season so far, catching 32 passes for 359 yards. He also scored one touchdown.
New England Patriots (2020)
Byrd joined the New England Patriots in 2020. He had a strong season with them. In Week 11, he caught six passes for 132 yards and a touchdown. This was against the Houston Texans. He finished the season playing in all 16 games. He caught 47 passes for 604 yards and one touchdown.
Chicago Bears (2021)
In 2021, Byrd signed with the Chicago Bears. In Week 14, he caught a long 54-yard touchdown pass. This was from quarterback Justin Fields.
Atlanta Falcons (2022)
Byrd signed with the Atlanta Falcons in 2022. In Week 7, he scored his first touchdown of the season. It was a 75-yard catch from Marcus Mariota.
Later Teams (2023–2024)
Byrd returned to the Carolina Panthers in 2023. He was placed on injured reserve and later released. He then signed with the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad again. Later in 2024, he also spent time with the Houston Texans, Washington Commanders, and Buffalo Bills.
