Damijan Stepančič studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. He finished his studies in 1996. Since then, he has focused on creating beautiful illustrations for children's books and magazines. His drawings help bring stories to life for young readers.

Awards and Recognition

Damijan Stepančič's work is highly praised. He was honored by the IBBY in 2010. This means his work was recognized globally for its excellence in children's literature.

He has also won the important Levstik Award twice. This award is given to the best Slovenian children's book creators. He won in 2003 for Leteči krožnik na našem vrtu (A Flying Saucer in Our Garden). He won again in 2011 for Zgodba o sidru (The Story of the Anchor).
