Damyean Da'Kethe Dotson (born May 6, 1994) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for Petkim Spor in Turkey's Basketball Super League (BSL). Dotson has also played for famous teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for the University of Oregon and the University of Houston. The Knicks picked him in the 2017 NBA draft.

College Basketball Journey
Damyean Dotson started his college basketball career playing for the University of Oregon. After two seasons there, he moved on. He then attended Houston Community College, where he focused on his studies and took classes to help with anger management.
Later, he transferred to the University of Houston to continue playing basketball. In his final year at Houston, he was a star player. He scored about 17.4 points and grabbed 6.9 rebounds per game. Because of his great performance, he was named to the First Team All-American Athletic Conference. This showed he was one of the best players in his college league.
Professional Basketball Career
Playing for the New York Knicks (2017–2020)
Damyean Dotson officially joined the New York Knicks on August 7, 2017. During his first year, he often played for both the Knicks and their minor league team, the Westchester Knicks, in the NBA G League. The G League is like a development league for the NBA. On November 29, 2017, he made history by being one of the few players to play in both the G League and the NBA on the same day!
On April 6, 2018, Dotson had an amazing game. He scored a career-high 30 points and also grabbed 11 rebounds. This helped the Knicks win against the Miami Heat with a score of 122–98. He achieved this while coming off the bench as a substitute player.
Time with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2020–2021)
On November 25, 2020, Damyean Dotson signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He played for them for about a year. On September 10, 2021, the Cavaliers decided to release him from their team.
Playing for the Austin Spurs (2021)
After leaving the Cavaliers, Dotson briefly signed with the San Antonio Spurs on October 14, 2021. However, he was waived just two days later. He then joined their G League team, the Austin Spurs, on October 27, 2021. While playing for the Austin Spurs, he averaged 12.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 12 games.
Return to the New York Knicks (2021–2022)
Damyean Dotson returned to the New York Knicks on December 21, 2021. He signed a special ten-day contract because the team needed extra players due to a "hardship exception." This means they had many players out due to illness or injury. He signed a second ten-day contract with the Knicks on December 31.
Back with the Austin Spurs (2022)
On January 11, 2022, Dotson was reacquired by the Austin Spurs. This meant he went back to play for the G League team again.
Playing in Turkey with Gaziantep (2022–2023)
On June 23, 2022, Damyean Dotson decided to play basketball overseas. He signed with Gaziantep Basketbol, a team in the Turkish Basketball Super League. He played there for the 2022-2023 season.
Playing in China with Ningbo Rockets (2023–2024)
On September 17, 2023, Dotson moved to China to play for the Ningbo Rockets in the Chinese Basketball Association. He played for them during the 2023-2024 season.
Joining Nanjing Monkey Kings (2024)
On September 20, 2024, Dotson signed with another Chinese team, the Nanjing Monkey Kings. He was the second international player to join their team that year.
Current Team: Petkim Spor (2024–Present)
On November 18, 2024, Damyean Dotson signed with Petkim Spor. This team is also part of the Turkish Basketball Super League (BSL), where he plays today.
