Daniel Faraldo (born June 10, 1977), who is better known as Dan-e-o, is a Canadian hip hop artist and actor. He has roots in both Jamaica and Spain. In 2015, he won the "Best Hip Hop Artist" award at the Black Canadian Awards. He is a member of the hip hop groups Monolith and Perfeck Strangers.

Starting His Career

Dan-e-o was born in Toronto, Canada. His career in entertainment began when he was only 13 years old. In 1991, he won a rap competition on the TV dance show Electric Circus. This win encouraged him to become a professional hip hop artist. He became known for being a great freestyle rapper and often won rap battles.

In 1996, his first official song, "Dear Hip Hop," was released. It was part of a popular album called RapEssentials Volume One. Today, many people consider this song a classic in Canadian hip hop history.

A year later, in 1997, he helped start his own music group called Monolith. The group had 12 members and released its first record, an EP called The Long Awaited..., in 1998. They also made music videos for their songs, which helped make Dan-e-o and Monolith famous in the Canadian hip hop scene.

Music and Albums

Dan-e-o has released several albums and songs throughout his career. His music often mixes hip hop with other styles like funk, soul, and reggae.

First Albums

In 2000, Dan-e-o released his first solo album, The Book of Daniel. It featured popular songs like "Corrida De Toros" and "Baahd!".

His second album, See No Evil, Hear No Evil, came out in 2004. One of its most famous songs is "K... Sutra," which features his cousin, the musician Red Rat. The music video for this song has been watched millions of times on YouTube.

Later Music

Over the years, Dan-e-o continued to make music. He released mixtapes, which are like special albums often given away for free. One of his mixtapes, Dilla Pickles, was a tribute to the famous music producer J Dilla.

In 2012, he formed a new group called Perfeck Strangers with the rapper Promise. They released their first album, Series Premiere, that same year.

Dan-e-o has continued to release solo albums, including:

  • The Day It All Changed (2019), which was dedicated to his daughter.
  • Vigilante (2024), which featured songs about social topics.

Acting Career

Besides making music, Dan-e-o is also an actor. He uses his real name, Daniel Faraldo, for his acting roles.

He has appeared in TV commercials and shows. In 2011, he had a small role in the TV series Breakout Kings. He also acted in his first movie, Anything Goes, that same year.

In 2014, he starred in the movie Tapped Out. He later appeared in the 2018 film Lifechanger. In 2023, he had a role in the Disney+ movie World’s Best.
