Dan Webb's Music Career
Early Music Journey
Dan Webb started his music career with exciting and partly improvised live shows. "Improvised" means he made up some parts of the music on the spot. People noticed his energetic performances. One cool thing he often did was play his keyboard behind his back. This was a bit like how the famous guitarist Jimi Hendrix used to play his guitar.
Over the years, Dan Webb has worked with many other artists. These include Greg Saunier, Kylie Auldist, and Bobby Flynn. He also collaborated with actress Ashleigh Cummings. The horn sections from popular bands like The Cat Empire and The Black Seeds have also joined him.
Tours and New Releases
In 2011, Dan Webb went on a tour in the United Kingdom. He played five shows there. He also performed two sets at the St Kilda Festival in Australia. Later, he supported another musician named Conway Savage.
In 2012, Dan Webb was the main performer for a tour in New Zealand. He also played at the Newtown Festival in Wellington. In 2013, he did something special for his fans. He released free demo versions of twelve original songs. He put out one new song each month on his official website.
These demo songs were later improved and released on his 2014 album called Sandstorm. The very first demo, "Departure," featured Kylie Auldist singing with him. This song was first played on The Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show on BBC Radio 6 Music in January 2013.
Dan Webb went on his biggest Australian tour in early 2013. He played seven shows in January and February. After this tour, he announced he would take a break from live performances for a while.
His 2017 album, Oedipus The King, was released in January 2017.
On March 31, 2023, Dan Webb shared details about his fourth album, Sunshine/Dialogue. At the same time, he released a new electro-jazz song called "Europa." This song featured Greg Saunier and included spoken-word parts.
In 2024, Dan Webb was nominated for an award. He was recognized as Self Producing Artist of the Year at the Music Producer & Engineers' Guild (MPEG) of Australia Awards. This award celebrates artists who produce their own music.
