Dana L. Redd, born on March 7, 1968, is an American politician. She is a member of the Democratic Party. She served as the Mayor of Camden, New Jersey, from 2010 to 2018. Before becoming mayor, Ms. Redd was a New Jersey State Senator. She represented the 5th Legislative District from 2008 to 2010.

Her Schooling and Learning
Dana Redd finished high school at Bishop Eustace Preparatory School in 1986. While going to college at night, she also worked full-time. She earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business from Rutgers University–Camden. She also studied at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. Later, she received a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Human Services Administration from Lincoln University (Pennsylvania).
Her Time in Public Office
Dana Redd held several important roles in government. She was part of the New Jersey Senate, which is like a state-level parliament. In the Senate, she worked on committees that focused on community issues, city development, and the state's budget. She also helped with health services and senior citizen programs.
She was also a member of the Joint Committee on Public Schools. This committee works on improving schools for students.
Working for the Democratic Party
Ms. Redd has been very active in the Democratic Party. Since 2006, she has served as the vice chair of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee. She was also part of the Democratic National Committee starting in 2006. In 2004, she was a delegate at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. This is a big meeting where the party chooses its candidate for president.
Since 2001, she has been a member of the New Jersey Redistricting Commission. This group helps draw the lines for voting districts. She also served on the Camden City Council as Vice Chair from 2001. From 2004 to 2006, she was the Chair of Camden's Housing Authority.
Serving as Mayor of Camden
In 2009, Dana Redd was elected mayor of Camden. She won the Democratic primary election in June 2009 with a large number of votes. She then won the general election in November 2009. She was re-elected in 2013, serving another four-year term as mayor.
After Being Mayor
After her time as mayor ended in 2018, Dana Redd continued to work in important leadership roles. She became the CEO of the Rowan University Rutgers-Camden Board of Governors. In 2022, she stepped down from that role. She then became the CEO of the Camden Community Partnership.
