Daniel Azulay (born May 30, 1947 – died March 27, 2020) was a talented Brazilian visual artist, comic book artist, and teacher. He was well-known for his work in newspapers and on TV as a draftsman. Daniel Azulay is most famous for creating the children's series Turma do Lambe-Lambe. He passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic due to health problems caused by COVID-19.

About Daniel Azulay

Daniel Azulay was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He grew up in the beautiful neighborhood of Ipanema. His family was of Jewish origin. He was the youngest child of Fortunato, a lawyer, and Clarita, who was an artist herself.

His Early Work

In 1968, Daniel Azulay created a newspaper comic strip called Capitão Cipó. It was published in the newspaper Correio da Manhã. Later, in 1975, he launched his most famous creation, Turma do Lambe-Lambe.

TV Shows and Education

Daniel Azulay was a pioneer in children's television. Starting in 1976, he hosted educational and smart TV programs for kids. These shows ran for ten years in a row. He had a big impact on children growing up in the 1980s.

Many kids learned how to draw from him. They also learned to build toys using everyday items. Daniel taught them about the importance of recycling and protecting the environment. He showed how we can all help make the world a better place.

Global Impact and Later Projects

Daniel Azulay traveled all over the world. He showed his art in exhibitions. He also gave talks and led workshops. These events focused on art, education, and helping the community. He won awards in Brazil and other countries for his work. His art pieces are now part of many private collections and big companies.

In 2009, he started teaching drawing through videos on the UOL website. He also made special shows for Canal Futura and appeared on TV Rá-Tim-Bum. In 2013, he launched a website called Diboo (www.diboo.com.br). This website offered online drawing courses especially for children.

His Passing

Daniel Azulay passed away on March 27, 2020, in Rio de Janeiro. He had been in the hospital for two weeks because of leukemia. While there, he caught COVID-19. He died from complications caused by the illness.
