Daniel Chavarria (born 23 November 1933 – died 6 April 2018) was a writer and a supporter of social change from Uruguay. He was known for his strong opinions and his exciting stories.
Chavarria's books often talked about how bad violence can be, especially when it comes from unfair systems. His life and writings showed his belief in a society where everyone is treated equally. He was a well-known supporter of the Cuban Revolution, which was a big change in Cuba's government.
In 2010, Daniel Chavarria won the National Prize for Literature. This is Cuba's most important award for writers.
Chavarria passed away on 6 April 2018 in Havana, Cuba. He was 84 years old and died from kidney failure.
