Daniel Cresswell (1776 – 21 March 1844) was a smart British man. He was a clergyman, which means he was a church leader. He was also a talented mathematician.

Daniel was born in Wakefield, England, in 1776. His father, also named Daniel Cresswell, was from a place called Crowden-le-Booth. Young Daniel went to the grammar school in Wakefield. He also studied in Hull. After school, he went to Trinity College, Cambridge. This is a very famous university. He became a fellow there, which is a special academic position. He earned several degrees: a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in 1797, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in 1800, and a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.) in 1823. He stayed at the university for many years. While there, he taught students privately.

Daniel Cresswell's Career and Achievements

In 1822, Daniel Cresswell became the vicar of Enfield. A vicar is a type of priest in the Anglican church. This was an important job given by his college. The next year, in 1823, he became a justice of the peace for Middlesex. This meant he helped keep law and order. He was also chosen to be a Fellow of the Royal Society. This is a very high honor for scientists and mathematicians. It shows he was highly respected for his work. Daniel Cresswell passed away in Enfield on March 21, 1844.
