Daniel Muchiwa Lisulo (born December 6, 1930 – died August 21, 2000) was an important leader in Zambia. He served as the third Prime Minister of Zambia from June 1978 to February 1981. A Prime Minister is like a chief minister who helps run the government of a country.

Early Life and Education

Daniel Muchiwa Lisulo was born in Mongu, Zambia, on December 6, 1930. He traveled to India for his education. He studied and graduated from Loyola College, Chennai in a city then known as Madras.

In 1967, he married Mary Mambo. Sadly, Mary passed away in 1976. Daniel Lisulo was left with their two daughters.

Career in Government

Before becoming Prime Minister, Daniel Lisulo had a significant role in Zambia's financial system. He worked as the director of the Bank of Zambia for many years, from 1964 to 1977. This job meant he helped manage the country's money and economy.

In 1977, he became a Member of Parliament. This means he was elected by the people to represent them in the country's law-making body. He served as a Member of Parliament until 1983.

In June 1978, Daniel Lisulo was chosen to be the Prime Minister of Zambia. He held this high position until February 1981. As Prime Minister, he played a key role in leading the government.

Later Life and Legacy

After his time as Prime Minister and Member of Parliament, Daniel Lisulo returned to his original profession. He started his own private law practice. This meant he worked as a lawyer helping people with legal issues.

Later, he joined a political group called the National Party. He became the temporary president of this party. Daniel Muchiwa Lisulo passed away on August 21, 2000. He died in the Sun Hill Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa.
