Political Journey

Starting in Politics

Daniel Mora was one of the people who helped start the Possible Peru party in 2000. This party was led by former president Alejandro Toledo. In 2000, he tried to become a Congressman but was not elected.

He held several important jobs in the government. From 2002 to 2003, he worked in the Ministry of Transport and Communication. He also led the National Intelligence Council (CNI) from 2003 to 2004. Later, from 2005 to 2006, he advised the president on decentralization. He ran for Congress again in 2006 but did not win.

Serving as a Congressman

In 2011, Daniel Mora was elected to the Congress. He represented the Constitutional Province of Callao. On 28 July 2011, the new president, Ollanta Humala, chose him to be the Minister of Defense. This happened because of an agreement between their political groups. He left this role in December 2011.

During his time in Congress, he became less involved with the Possible Peru party.

In August 2013, Daniel Mora led the Education Commission in Congress. He proposed a very important law called University Law 30220. This law aimed to improve universities in Peru. It also created a new organization called the National Superintendence of Higher University Education (SUNEDU). SUNEDU helps make sure universities offer good quality education.

After Congress

In 2016, Daniel Mora became a founding member of the Purple Party. This party was led by Julio Guzmán.

In September 2020, he joined the Patriotic Front, a group linked to Antauro Humala. However, he later left this group.
