Danielle Carruthers (born December 22, 1979) is an American athlete. She is best known for running in hurdles races. Hurdles are events where runners jump over barriers. Danielle won a silver medal in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics. Her fastest time in this race is 12.47 seconds. She set this record at the same competition where she won her silver medal.

Early Life and College Career

Danielle Carruthers grew up in Paducah, Kentucky. She became a well-known athlete while on the track team at Indiana University. During her time in college, she showed great talent.

NCAA Championships

Danielle was very successful in college sports. She won the 60-meter hurdles event two times. These wins were at the NCAA Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships. She won in both 2005 and 2006. The NCAA Championships are big competitions for college athletes in the United States.

International Competitions

After college, Danielle competed in many international events. She raced against top athletes from around the world.

Early World Events

  • In 2001, she finished eighth at the 2001 Summer Universiade. This is a global sports event for university students.
  • In 2006, she placed fourth at the 2006 IAAF World Indoor Championships.

One of Danielle's biggest achievements was at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics. This event took place in 2011. She competed in the 100-meter hurdles race.
