Danielle Galligan (born December 1, 1992) is an actress, writer, and theatre maker from Ireland. She is best known for playing Nina Zenik in the Netflix fantasy series Shadow and Bone. She also starred in the Irish TV show Obituary and the movie Lakelands.

Early Life and Schooling
Danielle Galligan grew up in Rathfarnham, a neighborhood in South Dublin, Ireland. Her mother, Lorraine, is a beauty therapist who owns a salon and a beauty school.
From a young age, Danielle was interested in acting. She went to Loreto High School Beaufort. Between 2005 and 2011, she was part of Ann Kavanagh's Young People's Theatre. She was so talented that she won a special scholarship to the Betty Ann Norton Theatre School.
After high school, she studied Drama and Theatre at Trinity College Dublin. She then trained at The Lir Academy, a top acting school in Ireland, and graduated in 2015.
Career Journey
After finishing her studies, Danielle started her career on stage. She acted in many plays and also began creating her own theatre shows.
On the Stage
Danielle's first professional roles were in plays like The Train. In 2017, she played the main character in The Grimm Tale of Cinderella.
In 2018, she co-founded an experimental theatre group called Chaos Factory. This means they create new and unusual plays. Their first show was called Kiss Kiss Slap. She also worked with a group called Murmuration, where she helped create and star in a show called Summertime.
Danielle also worked on a modern version of Homer's famous epic poem, The Odyssey, which was turned into a podcast and later a stage show called Gym Swim Party.
TV and Movies
Danielle first appeared on TV in 2019 with small parts in huge shows like Game of Thrones and Krypton.
Her big break came when she was cast as Nina Zenik in the Netflix series Shadow and Bone. The show is based on popular fantasy books by Leigh Bardugo. Danielle's character, Nina, became a fan favorite. She was a recurring character in the first season and became a main character in the second season.
In 2022, she starred in the movie Lakelands with actor Éanna Hardwicke. They both won an award for their great performances. She also appeared in the Irish crime drama Kin.
In 2023, she had a main role in the dark comedy series Obituary. For this role, she was nominated for an Irish Film & Television Award (IFTA).
