Leigh Bardugo (born April 6, 1975) is a popular American author. She writes exciting fantasy novels, especially for young adults. She is most famous for her "Grishaverse" books. These include the Shadow and Bone trilogy and the Six of Crows and King of Scars duologies.
Her books are so popular that some have been turned into TV shows. The Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows series became a show called Shadow and Bone on Netflix. Her adult novel, Ninth House, is also being made into a show by Amazon Studios. Leigh Bardugo helps make these shows as an executive producer.

Leigh Bardugo's Early Life
Leigh Bardugo was born in Jerusalem, Israel, on April 6, 1975. She grew up in Los Angeles, California, where her grandparents raised her. She has a mixed heritage, describing herself as Jewish-Spanish on one side and Russian and Lithuanian on the other.
She went to Yale University and earned a degree in English in 1997. Before she became a famous author, she worked in different jobs. She wrote for advertising and newspapers. She also worked in makeup and special effects.
Becoming a Writer
Leigh Bardugo's first novel, Shadow and Bone, came out in 2012. It was the first book in her "Grisha" trilogy. This series introduced readers to the "Grishaverse," a magical world inspired by early 19th-century Russia. Shadow and Bone quickly became a hit. It was nominated for awards and appeared on The New York Times Best Seller list.
She continued to build the Grishaverse with the Six of Crows duology. These books, Six of Crows (2015) and Crooked Kingdom (2016), are set in the same world. Book and TV Adaptations
Many of Leigh Bardugo's books have been adapted for the screen. In 2019, Netflix announced an eight-episode series. This show combines stories from her Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows books. Leigh Bardugo even had a small role in the third episode of the Shadow and Bone TV series.

Leigh Bardugo's Personal Life
Leigh Bardugo has a health condition called osteonecrosis. This condition sometimes requires her to use a cane. She used this personal experience to inspire one of her characters. Kaz Brekker, a main character in Six of Crows, also uses a cane.
Before becoming a full-time author, she was a singer. She was in a band called Captain Automatic from 2006 to 2007. In 2022, she got married to her partner. Leigh Bardugo identifies as Jewish, but she does not practice the religion.
