Career Highlights

Starting Big Blue & You

When Danni was 21, she and her mom started an organization called Big Blue & You. This group teaches young people about the world's oceans. They also help kids understand the problems oceans face, like pollution.

Danni won $10,000 from a tour sponsored by Roxy. She used this money to create the ArtSea Festival in Virginia Key Beach, Miami. This festival uses art, crafts, and fun activities to teach kids about science and the ocean. Virginia Key Beach was chosen because it was an important beach for people of color during the Jim Crow era. Danni often dresses up as the 'Mocha Mermaid' at the event. This helps encourage young women to get involved in marine conservation.

The Caribbean National Weekly recognized Danni as one of the 'Jamaican Diaspora 20 under 40'. This award honored her work as an ocean activist and her role as the 'Mocha Mermaid'.
