What's the Story About?
A Super-Strong Glue!
In this book, Danny's friend, Professor Bullfinch, invents an amazing new glue. It's stronger than any glue ever made! He calls it Irenium. He named it after Danny's friend and neighbor, Irene. This special glue turns out to be very important later on.
Danger at the Dam!
A company called Blaze Chemical built a factory near a swamp. They drained the swamp to build it. But the company accidentally leaked a chemical into the water. This chemical caused a big problem. It made the local dam weak, and it might break!
Danny, his friend Joe, and Irene quickly realize the danger. They know the dam needs to be fixed fast. Luckily, they have a can of the Professor's new Irenium glue. They use this super-strong glue to patch up the dam. Their quick thinking helps save the town from a flood!
A Sticky Prank and a Lesson Learned
While all this is happening, Danny also plays a prank on Mr. Blaze. Mr. Blaze is the owner of the chemical company. Danny uses the special glue to stick Mr. Blaze to the backseat of his car. This causes a funny moment later on. Mr. Blaze has to cut his pants to get free!
He then shows up at a town meeting wearing a blanket over his legs. It looks a bit like a kilt. Danny's mother, Mrs. Dunn, was upset about the swamp being drained. But she tells Danny that his prank was not helpful. She explains that he now owes Mr. Blaze for new pants. Danny humbly sends Mr. Blaze all the money he has. He also promises to pay the rest later.
A Surprise Ending!
Later, at Danny's birthday party, Mr. Blaze shows up as a surprise guest. He praises Danny for saving the town's dam. He also promises that his company will be more careful with chemical waste in the future. Mr. Blaze even returns Danny's money. He tells Danny that the cost of the pants was worth the lesson learned.
