Danny Faure was born on May 8, 1962. He is a politician from the Seychelles, a country made up of islands in the Indian Ocean. He was the fourth President of Seychelles from October 16, 2016, to October 26, 2020. Before becoming president, he was the Vice-President of Seychelles from 2010 to 2016. Mr. Faure is part of the United Seychelles Party.

Early Life and Education
Danny Faure was born in Kilembe, Uganda, to parents from the Seychelles. He went to primary and secondary school in the Seychelles. Later, he studied at the University of Havana in Cuba. He earned a degree in political science, which is the study of how governments work.
Political Career
In 1985, when he was 23, Danny Faure started working for the Seychelles education ministry. He helped develop school programs. He also taught at the National Youth Service and the Seychelles Polytechnic.
Becoming a Leader
In 1993, the Seychelles became a country with many political parties. Mr. Faure became a leader in the National Assembly, which is like the country's parliament. He held this role until 1998.
That year, he was chosen to be the Minister of Education. Over the years, he served in many important government jobs. These included roles in youth affairs, finance, trade, public administration, and technology.
Work in Finance
In 2006, President James Michel appointed him as the Minister of Finance. During his time as finance minister, the Seychelles made big changes to its economy. These changes were suggested by the International Monetary Fund, an organization that helps countries with their money.
Mr. Faure led the first set of these economic changes. These reforms took place from October 2008 to October 2013. He also served as a special designated minister from 2004 to 2010. On July 1, 2010, he became the Vice-President. He continued to manage the country's finances even as Vice-President.
Presidency of Seychelles
On September 27, 2016, President James Michel announced he would step down. He transferred his power to Vice-President Faure on October 16, 2016. This happened after an opposition party won the majority of seats in the National Assembly.
Since there were four years left in President Michel's term, these years counted as a full term for Mr. Faure. He was officially sworn in as president on October 16, 2016.
Protecting the Oceans
On April 14, 2019, President Faure visited a British research submarine deep underwater. From there, he gave a speech asking for better protection for the world's oceans. He highlighted the importance of marine life and ecosystems.
On June 13, 2019, Mr. Faure received a special award. The National Geographic Society gave him the 'Planetary and Leadership Award'. This award recognized his efforts in protecting the environment. The ceremony took place at George Washington University in Washington DC.
End of Presidency
In October 2020, Danny Faure ran for president again in the presidential election. However, he lost to Wavel Ramkalawan. Mr. Ramkalawan then became the new President of Seychelles.
Personal Life
Danny Faure is a father to five children: four daughters and one son. He married Shermin Rudie Bastienne on April 4, 2021.
