Danny Faure (born 8 May 1962) is a politician from the Seychelles. He was the fourth President of Seychelles from October 2016 to October 2020. Before becoming president, he served as the Vice President of Seychelles from 2010 to 2016. Faure is a member of the United Seychelles Party.

Background and Early Life
Danny Faure was born on May 8, 1962, in Kilembe, Uganda. His parents were from the Seychelles. He went to primary and secondary school in the Seychelles. Later, he studied at the University of Havana in Cuba. He earned a degree in political science there.
His Career in Government
In 1985, when he was 23, Faure began working for the Seychelles education ministry. He was an assistant curriculum officer. He also taught at the National Youth Service and the Seychelles Polytechnic.
Becoming a Minister
In 1993, the Seychelles became a multi-party democracy again. Faure became the leader of government business in the National Assembly. He held this role until 1998. That year, he was made the Minister of Education. Over the years, he served in many different government roles. These included minister for youth, finance, trade, industries, public administration, and information technology.
As Vice President
In 2006, President James Michel appointed Faure as the Minister of Finance. During his time as finance minister, the Seychelles started important economic changes. These changes were suggested by the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF is an organization that helps countries with their economies. Faure managed the first set of these changes from 2008 to 2013.
From 2004 to 2010, he also served as a "designated minister." On July 1, 2010, he became the Vice President. He continued to be the Minister of Finance at the same time.
His Time as President
On September 27, 2016, President James Michel announced he would step down. He said he would leave office on October 16 and give power to Vice President Faure. This happened after an opposition party won a majority in the National Assembly. Danny Faure was sworn in as president on October 16, 2016. He was to finish the remaining four years of Michel's term.
On April 14, 2019, President Faure visited a British research submarine. He gave a speech from underwater, asking for better protection for the world's oceans.
On June 13, 2019, Faure received a special award. The National Geographic Society gave him the 'Planetary and Leadership Award'. This award recognized his efforts to protect the planet. The ceremony was held at George Washington University in Washington DC.
In October 2020, Danny Faure ran for president again. However, he lost the presidential election. Wavel Ramkalawan, an opposition candidate, became the new President of the Republic of Seychelles.
Personal Life
Danny Faure is a father to five children. He has four daughters and one son. He married Shermin Rudie Bastienne on April 4, 2021.
