Early Days at Halifax
Danny made his first professional appearance for Halifax when he was 17 years old. This was in 2003. It was his only game in the top league, called Super League VIII. He stayed with Halifax until 2006.
Moving to Keighley Cougars
In 2007, Danny joined the Keighley Cougars. He played for them for four seasons. He then returned to Halifax for the 2011 season. After that, he moved back to Keighley in 2012. He played for the Cougars until 2015.

A Sad Day and Lasting Legacy
On May 3, 2015, Danny Jones was playing in a rugby match. It was a League 1 game between Keighley Cougars and London Skolars. He felt unwell during the game and left the field.
Danny's Passing
Soon after leaving the field, Danny had a heart problem. Doctors tried to help him right away. He was taken to the Royal Free Hospital by air ambulance. Sadly, he passed away. The game was stopped after this happened. Later, doctors found out that Danny had an undetected heart condition. It was something he was born with.
Honoring Danny's Memory
After Danny's death, the Keighley Cougars decided to honor him. They retired his number 6 shirt. This means no other player will wear that number for the team. The main stand at their stadium, Cougar Park, was also named The Danny Jones Stand.
Danny's wife, Lizzie, also helped keep his memory alive. She sang a special hymn, Abide with Me, at the 2015 Challenge Cup Final. This was to thank everyone for their support. She also sang Danny Boy at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.
The Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund
In 2016, Lizzie worked with a charity called the RFL Benevolent Fund. They started the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund. This fund helps raise awareness about heart health in sports. It also helps rugby clubs buy defibrillators. These are devices that can help someone having a heart attack. The fund also encourages players to get their hearts checked. By 2019, the fund had raised over £200,000. This money helped many amateur clubs.
