Daniel John Mark Luke O'Donoghue (born on 3 October 1980) is an Irish singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lead singer of the Irish rock band The Script. Danny also worked as a coach on the TV singing show The Voice UK. Before The Script, he was part of an Irish boy band called Mytown.

Growing Up in Dublin
Danny O'Donoghue was born in Dublin, Ireland. His father, Shay O'Donoghue, was also a musician in a band called The Dreams. Danny is the youngest of six children. He grew up in Ballinteer, Dublin. At first, he didn't want to be a musician. But he later left school to follow his dream in music.
Starting His Music Career
In the late 1990s, Danny O'Donoghue joined a band called Mytown. His friend and future bandmate, Mark Sheehan, was also in this group. They signed with Universal Records in 1999. After some success, Danny and Mark moved to Los Angeles. There, they wrote songs and produced music for famous artists. These artists included Britney Spears, Boyz II Men, and TLC.
After a year of writing songs, Danny and Mark returned to Dublin. They met drummer Glen Power and started working on their own music. In 2001, they formed the band The Script.
All About The Script
The Script released their first album, The Script, on 8 August 2008. Danny O'Donoghue helped write all the songs on this album. The album became very popular, especially in Ireland. It reached number one on the Irish Album Chart.
Since then, The Script has released many more albums. These include Science and Faith (2010) and #3 (2012). They also released No Sound Without Silence (2014) and Freedom Child (2017). Their latest album, Sunsets & Full Moons, came out in 2019. The band has toured a lot, playing in big arenas across the UK.
Coaching on The Voice UK
In 2012, Danny O'Donoghue became a coach on The Voice UK. He joined other famous singers like Jessie J and will.i.am. His bandmates supported his decision to join the show. They felt it would help more people learn about The Script.
When he first joined, some people didn't know who he was. But the show helped Danny become more popular. He said there was a "big outpouring of love for The Script" after the show. In the first season, he coached Bo Bruce. She finished as the runner-up. In the second season, Andrea Begley from his team surprisingly won the show.
Danny also co-wrote a song called "Alive" for Bo Bruce's album. On 16 July 2013, Danny announced he was leaving The Voice UK. He wanted to focus more on his music with The Script.
Danny's Personal Life
Danny O'Donoghue's father, Shay, passed away on 14 February 2008. Danny has a rose tattoo on his left arm to remember his father. The song "If You Could See Me Now" is also dedicated to him. His mother, Ailish, passed away on 8 February 2019. Danny has shared that he attends Catholic Mass every day.
Danny is a big fan of the English football club Manchester United. He also has a brother who lives in Melbourne, Australia.
