What is a French Commune?
In France, a "commune" is the smallest unit of local government. Think of it like a town or a small district. Each commune has its own mayor and local council. They manage things like local schools, roads, and public services.
Communes can be very big cities like Paris, or tiny villages with just a few people. Danvou-la-Ferrière was one of the smaller ones.
Merging Communes
Sometimes, smaller communes decide to merge together. This can happen for many reasons. It might help them share resources better or offer more services to their residents. When Danvou-la-Ferrière merged, it became part of a bigger group of villages. This new group is called Les Monts d'Aunay.
