Dany Nounkeu's Football Journey
Starting His Career
Dany Nounkeu began playing football in his home city of Yaoundé, Cameroon. He started at a club called Collège Vogt Atletic. In July 2005, he moved to France to join FC Metz. He played for their reserve team before moving to another club in the same league, CSO Amnéville.
In July 2008, Dany joined Pau FC, where he played in 24 matches during the 2008–09 season.
Playing for Toulouse
On June 5, 2009, Dany Nounkeu signed a four-year contract with Toulouse FC, a team in France's top football league, Ligue 1. He played his first professional game on September 12, 2009.
During his first season with Toulouse, he played in 17 matches. His team finished 14th in the league that year.
Moving to Turkey: Gaziantepspor
On September 1, 2010, Dany Nounkeu moved to Turkey. He signed a three-year deal with Gaziantepspor, a club in the Turkish Süper Lig. He played his first match for them on October 30, 2010.
Dany played regularly for Gaziantepspor in the 2011–12 season, appearing in 28 matches. His team finished 10th in the league.
Joining Galatasaray
On June 8, 2012, Dany Nounkeu joined Galatasaray, one of Turkey's biggest football clubs. He signed a four-year contract. He made his first appearance for Galatasaray on September 22, 2012, in a match they won 3–1 against Beşiktaş.
Loan to Beşiktaş
In February 2014, Dany was loaned to Beşiktaş until June. This meant he played for Beşiktaş for a short time. He played in nine matches for them before returning to Galatasaray.
Loan to Granada
On August 30, 2014, Dany Nounkeu was loaned to Granada in Spain for a season.
Playing for Bursaspor
On July 30, 2015, Dany Nounkeu agreed to join another Turkish club, Bursaspor, for three years.
Time at Akhisarspor
On May 10, 2018, Dany Nounkeu helped Akhisar Belediyespor win their first major trophy, the 2017–18 Turkish Cup. This was a big achievement for the club.
Playing in Djibouti: Arta/Solar7
In December 2020, Dany Nounkeu made a permanent move to Arta/Solar7, a football team in Djibouti. He played alongside another famous Cameroonian player, Alex Song, there.
Playing for His Country: Cameroon
Dany Nounkeu represented his home country, Cameroon, in international football. He played for the Cameroon U17 team in the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship in Finland.
He was first called up to the main Cameroon squad in November 2004. He also took part in the LG Cup in 2011. Dany was part of Cameroon's team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He played in two of Cameroon's three games during the tournament.
