Dark Life is an exciting adventure and science fiction book by Kat Falls. It's the first book in a series called Dark Life. Scholastic published it on May 1, 2010. Kat Falls also wrote a sequel, which is called Rip Tide. This book series is very popular! The story's film rights were bought in 2010. What is Dark Life About?
Imagine a world where most of the land is covered by water! This is the setting for Dark Life. People now live in underwater homes. The story follows a teenage boy named Ty. He has always lived underwater. Ty helps his family farm their special sea homestead.
One day, Ty meets Gemma, a teenage girl from the land. She is looking for her lost brother. Soon after, a group of sea bandits attacks Ty's home. They are known as the "Seablite Gang." Ty and Gemma work together to try and catch the bandits.
Mysterious Dark Gifts
During their adventure, they discover something surprising. A member of the Seablite Gang, named Shade, turns out to be Gemma's brother! Even more amazing, Shade has a special ability. It's called a "dark gift."
Ty also has a unique dark gift. He can use echo-location, much like a bat. This means he can "see" things using sound waves. Shade's dark gift lets him change how he looks. These special gifts make the story even more exciting!
