Darrell Edward Sherman (born December 4, 1967) is a former professional baseball player from America. He played as an outfielder during his career.

Darrell Sherman's College Baseball Journey
Starting Strong at Cerritos College
Darrell Sherman went to Lynwood High School in California. After high school, he began his college baseball career at Cerritos College. His team did very well, winning 84 games and losing only 11 during his two years there. In 1988, Darrell set new school records. He scored the most runs, got the most walks, reached base the most times on base, and had the most stolen bases.
Playing for Long Beach State
Darrell then decided to continue playing college baseball at Long Beach State. In 1989, he helped lead the Long Beach State Dirtbags team to the College World Series. This is a big tournament where the best college baseball teams compete.
Professional Baseball Career
Joining the San Diego Padres
The San Diego Padres team chose Darrell Sherman in the sixth round of the 1989 Major League Baseball draft. This is when professional teams pick new players. In December 1991, the Baltimore Orioles picked him in a special draft called the Rule 5 draft. People thought Darrell might play as a leadoff batter or a fifth outfielder for the Orioles. However, he was sent back to the Padres before the 1992 season began.
Making His Major League Debut
Darrell spent the next year playing in the minor leagues. In November 1992, he was added to the San Diego Padres' main roster for the first time. He made his first appearance in a Major League Baseball (MLB) game on April 8, 1993. This game was against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Three Rivers Stadium. Darrell entered the game in the sixth inning as a pinch hitter. He hit a double off the pitcher, Bob Walk.
Darrell played in 37 of the Padres' first 42 games that season. His 37th and final Major League game was on May 22, 1993.
Continuing His Career
After his time in MLB, Darrell continued to play professional baseball until 2006. For the last seven years of his career, he played in the Mexican League.
Coaching After Playing
After he stopped playing, Darrell became a coach. Before the 2008 season, he was named the hitting coach for the Eugene Emeralds team. He has also coached at Long Beach Wilson High School and for the Tomateros de Culiacán team. He also coached at his old college, Cerritos College.
