Darren Bolton's Football Journey
Darren Bolton was chosen by the Fremantle Football Club in the 1999 AFL Rookie Draft. This draft is a way for Australian Football League (AFL) teams to pick new players who might not have been selected in the main draft. Before joining Fremantle, Darren played for the Peel Thunder Football Club. He was a star player there, winning their "Best and Fairest" award in 1998. This award goes to the player who performs the best for their team throughout the season.
In 1999, Darren played two games for Fremantle in the AFL. These games were in Round 3 and Round 4 of the season. After that year, he was "delisted" by Fremantle. This means the club decided not to keep him on their team for the next season.
Playing for Peel Thunder
Even though his time in the AFL was short, Darren Bolton had a long and successful career in the WAFL. The WAFL is a major football league in Western Australia, just below the AFL. He played for Peel Thunder from 1997 until 2004.
In 2005, Darren played for a team called Waroona in the Peel League. He then returned to play for Peel Thunder for two more seasons in 2006 and 2007.
A Football Family
Darren Bolton is also known as the father of Shai Bolton. Shai is a very talented player who currently plays as a forward for the Richmond Football Club in the AFL.
