Daryl Clinton Smith (born July 29, 1960) is a former American professional baseball player. He was a pitcher, which means he threw the ball to the batter. Daryl played for several teams during his career, including a short time in Major League Baseball (MLB). He also played in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL).

Becoming a Professional Player
Daryl Smith was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He loved baseball and worked hard to become a professional player. In 1980, when he was 19 years old, the Texas Rangers baseball team chose him in the draft. Being drafted means a team picks a player to join their organization.
Starting in the Minor Leagues
After being drafted, Daryl began his journey in Minor League Baseball. Minor League teams help young players get better and prepare for the big leagues. He played for many different minor league teams over the years. Some of these teams included the Asheville Tourists in 1980 and the Tulsa Drillers in 1983. He also played for the Waterbury Indians in 1986 and the Williamsport Bills in 1987. In 1988, he played for the Birmingham Barons.
Reaching the Major Leagues
After years of hard work in the minor leagues, Daryl Smith finally made it to Major League Baseball. This is the highest level of professional baseball in the United States.
His MLB Debut
Daryl made his big league debut on September 18, 1990. He played for the Kansas City Royals. A debut is a player's very first game in a new league. He pitched in two games for the Royals that year. After his time with the Royals, he continued to play in the minor leagues, including for the Omaha Royals until 1991.

Playing in Taiwan
In 1995, Daryl joined the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) in Taiwan. He played for the Jungo Bears in 1995. The next year, in 1996, he played for the Sinon Bulls. He finished his professional baseball career playing for the Sinon Bulls.
