How Dave's Guitar Shop Started
Dave Rogers, the founder, began his guitar business from his home. He loved guitars so much that he opened his very first store in La Crosse in 1982. This first shop was in a building that used to be a pizza place!
Over the years, the La Crosse store grew bigger. In 2017, Dave expanded it, making space for even more guitars. Today, this store holds more than 3,000 guitars, ready for musicians to discover.
More Stores Open Up
Dave's Guitar Shop didn't stop at just one location.
- In May 2017, a second store opened in Milwaukee. This shop has over 400 guitars and is also great at fixing guitars. In October 2019, the Milwaukee store moved to an even larger building.
- In June 2018, a third store opened in Madison. This store offers many of the same products and repair services. It also specializes in special handmade acoustic guitars from companies like Goodall and Collings.
- The newest store opened in Marshfield, Wisconsin in August 2022.
The Amazing Guitar Museum
The original Dave's Guitar Shop in La Crosse has a special secret: a guitar and amplifier museum! It's located on the second floor of the store.
This museum is home to more than 300 vintage guitars and amplifiers. Some of these guitars are incredibly rare and valuable. The entire collection is open for everyone to see and enjoy. It's like a treasure chest for guitar lovers!
